The Case Concerning the Secession and the Annexation of East Agnostica

The Federal Republic of Agnostica (Applicant) and the State of Reverentia (Respondent) appeared before the International Court of Justice to settle their differences concerning the Secession and the Annexation of East Agnostica.

The case presented the following issues:

1. Treaty interpretation and applicability in the face of changed circumstances;

2. The propriety of counter-measures; and

3. The procedural and substantive issues raised by the secession of a province from one country and its annexation by another.
