2014 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition

The 12th edition of the Italian National Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition took place in Roma from 20 to 22 February 2014, hosted by LUISS ‘Guido Carli’

The State of Amalea (Applicant) and the Republic of Ritania (Respondent) appeared before the International Court of Justice to settle their differences concerning the Certain Activities in the Malachi Gap.

The case presented the following issues:

  1. The conflict between maritime development and conservation;

  2. Criminal jurisdiction; and

  3. Maritime salvage rights.
