The 11th edition of the Italian National Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition took place in Milan, on 22 February 2013, hosted by Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton

The Alfurnia (Applicant) and the State of Rutasia (Respondent) appeared before the International Court of Justice to settle their differences in the Case concerning the Alfunan .

The case presented the following issues:

  1. International Environmental Law;

  2. Statehood and the Succession of State Obligations;

  3. Definition of Refugees v. Migrants; and

  4. Treatment of Migrants/Refugees.
