The 3rd edition of the Italian National Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition

The State of Apollonia (Applicant) and the Kingdom of Raglan (Respondent) appeared before the International Court of Justice to settle their differences in the Case concerning the Vessel The Mairi Maru.

The case presented the following issues:

  1. Piracy and state responsibility for attacks at sea;

  2. Legality of vessel scuttling;

  3. Maritime environmental harm from MOX transport; and

  4. Navigation rights and obligations for hazardous shipments through archipelagic waters.
